About Me
Hello! My name is Laura! I also go by Carol (although nobody calls me that, I still like it, so use it if you want.) I am a graphic designer and traditional animator; I also have knowledge and experience in creative direction, arts and crafts, illustration, storyboarding, and children's book illustration, among other skills.
When I first came to America, I was scared of making the wrong decisions, so it was hard initially to find a job in my field. However, I overcame the fear and enrolled in an MFA in Traditional Animation at the Academy of Art University, which has always been my dream. Now, I can proudly say I am a graphic artist looking to break into the Animation industry. I am passionate about finding a job where I can make a difference, where we as a team hold ourselves accountable, are respectful, where positive feedback is welcomed, and are not afraid of being bold cause if there is something that my journey has taught me, referencing what Joseph Chilton P. once said, "To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong."
My values and ethos have led me to appreciate three milestones I am the most proud to share.
- First, I enrolled in an MFA program in animation and visual effects at the Academy of Art University. It meant a lot to me, mainly because there were multiple challenges I needed to overcome. The language, being a full-time student, having a full-time job, and other obstacles.
- My second milestone was entering the wine industry as a Jr. Graphic Designer. My work ethic and skills led me to get into that highly competitive industry, and thanks to that job, I learned a ton.
As you can see, I am just a small-town girl who dreams of giving meaning to her work. I take pride in my work ethic, but I also enjoy simple things; I appreciate a long road trip with a hiking destination and a nice beach day. I can enjoy a "Netflix and chill" day and a weekend at a music festival.
